Run Moab’s BACKSIDE!
Congratulations to all the teams who ran Moab’s Backside on Saturday, May 8, 2010!
“Team Moab” finished as the overall winner–again! That’s right–Team Moab returned to defend their 2009 title and completed the course with a time of 6:8:45. It was a fight to the end with team “Boom Kings” finishing not too far behind.
Check out the complete results under “Results” and take a look at the pictures in the “Photo Gallery.”
Mark your calendars–Moab Relay 2011 is Saturday, MAY 7th!
Moab Relay May 7, 2011
This BACKSIDE 50 mile course is a relay-style race. You, plus a team of 5 of your favorite running buddies, will check out Moab from the “backside” as you run along the La Sal Mountain Loop Road. Feel the burn as you and your teammates tough through elevation changes that range from 4800 feet to 8800 feet. Climb that mountain, love the cool mountain air, then coast back down into Moab. End up at the Old City Park for lots of green grass and shady trees.
50 Miles Made Easy
With a team of 6 runners (or 3 for Ultra teams) this 50 miles will be a smooth ride. Each runner runs two different legs of the race (each about 4 miles or so), then hitches a ride in the team wagon while the other teammates run their legs of the race. This relay-style of running makes running this 50 miles a piece of cake.
Relay-Style Exchanges
There are 11 exchanges along the course where the runner must slap the team wristband (a.k.a. the “baton”) on the wrist of the teammate running the next leg. After finishing his/her leg and completing the exchange, the runner then hops in the vehicle with the other teammates to cheer the next runner on and to rest up for his/her next leg a couple hours later.
We’ve got you Covered
Do you really need more than an excuse to come to Moab? How about some cool tech tees and classic medals for all race participants? Or maybe the awards will do it for you since they are given to division winners, best team name, and best-decorated vehicle. There’s always the party at the finish line where you can get a nice massage and then get your picture taken with your sweaty friends. Whatever it takes to get you here, we’ve got you covered!
